Giants extend their win-streak at the expense of the Cougars

The Vancouver Giants are playing their best hockey of the season.

The Prince George Cougars were their latest victim.

The (24-20-3-2) Giants beat the Cougars 5-2 to stretch their season-high winning streak to five games before 3,566 fans in Langley.

Vancouver enjoyed period leads of 2-1 and 3-2.

Saturday was Vancouver’s fourth win in six games against Prince George this season.

Mitchell Kohner and Vladislav Mikhalchuk scored for the Cougars, who are 6-14-2-2 on the road.

Taylor Gauthier had his personal four-game win streak come to an end after he stopped 29 of 34 shots.

Trent Miner earned his 10th victory, stopping 27 of 29 shots in the Giants’ crease.

The Cougars’ power-play went 1-6 and the penalty-kill was 2-3.

The Giants got goals from Holden Katzalay, Tyler Preziuso, Justin Sourdif, Seth Bafaro and Milos Roman.

The (16-27-3-4) Cougars visit the (20-24-3-3) Seattle Thunderbirds tonight (Sunday) at 5:00 in Kent, Washington.

After 50 games, Prince George is seven points back of Seattle for the final wildcard playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Surprise visit brings big smiles to boy battling cancer in Quesnel

A young man battling eye cancer received a surprise visit over the Canada Day long weekend by a car club and motorcycle club in Quesnel.
