Cougars fall 9 points out of a playoff spot after loss to Seattle

Roddy Ross won a terrific goaltender’s battle over Taylor Gauthier in the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 Sunday night victory over the Prince George Cougars.

Ross made 33 saves while Gauthier blocked 34 of 36 shots before 4,512 fans in Kent, Washington.

The Thunderbirds scored the only goal in the first and the two teams exchanged goals in the 2nd.

Ilijah Colina (9th) tallied for the Cats on the power-play.

On Saturday, the Cougars dropped a 5-2 decision against the Vancouver Giants in Langley.

The (16-28-3-4) Cougars are 9 points behind (21-24-3-3) Seattle and 10 back of (23-25-1-2) Kelowna in the race for the two wild-card playoff spots.

City Council waiting for more information before saying yes to World Cup watch parties

Prince George City Council has decided to wait for more information before making a decision on hosting watch parties for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.At Wednesday's meeting, City Council discussed a notice of motion put forward by Councillors Ron Polillo and Cori Ramsay, directing staff to work with a few local organizations to plan and execute outdoor watch parties to be held at Canada Games Plaza. 

Mounties host block parties to re-engage Block Watch programs
