Quesnel RCMP discover stolen equipment following vehicle accident

RCMP got more than they bargained for after attending the site of a single-vehicle accident south of Quesnel yesterday (Monday) evening.

A truck pulling a trailer with a mini-excavator went off the road on Highway 97 near Johnston Road.

According to Sergeant Richard Waseen, the truck, trailer, and excavator were determined to be stolen from areas in Southern B.C.

Police say the driver fled on foot prior to police arrival, and despite police dog tracking efforts, authorities were unable to locate him.

The suspect is described as approximately 40 years old, with a short brown beard.

He was seen wearing a black and blue hat, a tan Carhartt jacket, blue jeans and work boots.

Anyone with information is requested to call their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
