City official says spring-like weather is bad for roadways

The spring-like weather that has been present in the region may ease the winter blues, but it may complicate road maintenance.

“There’s been a lot of fluctuation, over and below freezing, and that’s what is really hard on roadways,” said Michael Kellett, City of PG spokesperson.

“If anyone sees a pothole they should call 311 and let City staff know about it.”

Road maintenance has been a major concern for Prince George in the last decade, although significant progress has been made.

Over 2,000 pothole complaints were received in 2012, a number that was reduced to 900 in 2018.

More information is available on the City of Prince George’s website.
