It is an event that keeps growing every year, and now it is celebrating its first half-decade milestone.
On April 18th, an anticipated 600 climbers will tackle climbing Prince George’s notoriously steep cutbanks.
The climb is intentionally difficult to “mimic the challenges that cancer patients face when they’re going through treatment,” said Doug Bell, Chair of the Climb for Cancer Planning Committee.
Proceeds from the climb will benefit The Kordyban Cancer Lodge in Prince George.
“The Kordyban Cancer Lodge is something that doesn’t get enough attention in Prince George, it is the home away from home for people who are all across the north who are receiving cancer treatment,” said Bell.
This year the hope is to raise $75,000, a modest increase from last year’s record-breaking 65-grand.
The climb has raised $172,000 since 2015.
