Cougars fall on their “Butt” after suffering 5th straight loss

The (38-12-3-1) Silvertips broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in the third period, the last one into an empty net before 4,973 fans.

Everett has won nine of its last 10 and extended its winning streak to four games while Prince George stretched its losing streak to five games.

Dawson Butt scored the game-winning goal six and a half minutes into the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie.

Butt’s goal came 51-seconds after the Cougars tied the game.

Michal Gut, Ethan Regnier and Kasper Puutio (empty-net) also scored for the Silvertips.

16-year-old Braden Holt stopped 27 shots for his second career win.

Josh Maser, with a goal and an assist, and Vladislav Mikhalchuk scored for the Cougars.

Taylor Gauthier suffered the loss in net, stopping 43 of 46 shots.

The (16-31-3-4) Cougars visit the (22-28-3-3) Seattle Thunderbirds Sunday night at 5:00.

Prince George is 11 points behind Seattle for the last Western Conference wild-card playoff spot.

The Cougars have 14 games left (including six at home) and the Thunderbirds have 12 left.

Seattle will host Portland tonight after the Thunderbirds lost in Portland Friday night 5-3.
