New program launched to help B.C. seniors

The Provincial Government is partnering with the BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) to launch “EquipCare BC”, a program designed to help seniors in long-term care and assisted living homes.

EquipCare BC will provide $10 million to more than 240 long-term care homes and over 200 assisted living homes to help prevent infection and improve safety in senior living facilities.

Funds may be used to purchase items such as hand-wash stations, touchless towel and soak dispensers, and safe handling equipment for waste and laundry.

BCCPA will administer the program and accept applications from facilities beginning on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

The program looks to support long-term care and assisted living homes until the end of summer.
