14 new cases of Covid-19 in BC, 2 in Northern Health

Northern Health has identified two individuals with Covid-19 in the region, for a total of 32.

Four people are in hospital, and of those, two are in the ICU.

25 of 32 test positive cases in Northern Health are recovered.

In addition, 14 new cases were recorded provincewide, BC now has 1,575 laboratory-confirmed cases.

Sadly, three more deaths have occurred overnight, the provincial death toll has now reached 78.

“There have been two new outbreaks in the last day: the Kootenay Street Village long-term care facility in the Interior health region and an acute care unit at the Ridge Meadows Hospital in the Fraser Health region. Four facilities, where outbreaks had previously been declared over, have new cases. In total, 26 long-term care and assisted-living facilities and one acute care unit have outbreaks,” said Provincial Health Officer Doctor Bonnie Henry in a release.

The Mission Institution Correctional Centre is now up to 61 cases, and one death has been attributed to the outbreak.

“We have also put a new provincial health officer’s order in place to require agricultural employers to establish and maintain infection control plans. To support these efforts, we have authorized by law enforcement officers to review these plans to ensure appropriate measures are in place to protect the workers and our communities,” adds the release.

There are currently 120 people in the hospital and 56 in ICU across the province.

983 people in BC have recovered – roughly 62 percent of recorded cases.

The breakdown by region:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 670 total, 197 active (No change)

Fraser Health: 630 total, 273 active (+7)

Interior: 149 total, 57 active (+3)

Vancouver Island: 94 total, 38 active (+2)

Northern Health: 32 total, 7 active (+2)

The Prince George Spruce Kings scored early and often in a 4-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Dracen Campbell got the 1,009 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena in to the game early, opening the scoring for the Spruce Kings just 4:08 into the first.
