Over 23,000 electronic devices being loaned to students throughout B.C.

More than 23,000 computers, tablets, and other devices are being loaned to students throughout the province to allow them to continue their education while in-class learning is suspended.

“Now, more than ever, we must come together to help children and families who are struggling in our communities,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Education.

The need became clear following school-district conducted surveys,  which found that many families lack the resources and technology necessary to allow students to learn virtually.

Furthermore, school districts have worked with internet providers to ensure families have low-cost internet or cellphone data plans to aid children who do not have internet access.

Students living in remote regions with inadequate internet access have been receiving learning packages to allow them to continue to learn at home.
