Beautification initiative looking for empty storefronts

Empty storefronts in the downtown core will be few and far between soon, as a new initiative aims to beautify them with local artwork.

The Prince George Community Arts Council is launching the campaign, hoping to increase the beautification of property while seeing property values rise, and empty storefronts potentially disappear.

Neil O’Farrell is with the Prince George Events and Promotions committee, and says he has researched the effectiveness of the initiative elsewhere:

“.. including in BC I read something a little while ago in Nanaimo and its proven quite successful, it’s been great, people talk about it for the artists it’s fantastic and there has been proven signs that these places get leased out quite a bit quicker”

Building owners and local artists are encouraged to contact the Community Arts Council at 250-562-4526 to get involved.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
