Prince George sees building permits issued last month dip in value

In a meeting that spanned less than a half-hour, Prince George City Council received the monthly building and development summary report.

PG saw a 20 percent drop in the value of building permits issued in March, compared to the previous two years.

In March, the city issued building permits with a total estimated value of $8.8 million, down from $11.1 million last year and $11.3 million in 2018.

However, the number of individual permits increased.

The city issued 41 permits last month, up four from this time last year and the year before.

Despite the decrease, the number of permits issued in the first quarter of the year was in line with the past two, and the total value of permits issued was higher than the first quarters of 2018-19.

From January to the end of March, the city issued 97 permits worth an estimated $31.3 million. Over the same period in 2019, the city issued 101 permits worth $27.2 million.

The biggest permit issued by the city in March was for the construction of a new industrial building worth approximately $930,000.
