ColdSnap to get $15k from the feds in 2016

Prince George’s favorite music festival “ColdSnap” is getting a boost from the federal government.

In time for their 2016 shows, the festival will be getting $15,000 from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.

Prince George – Peace River MP Bob Zimmer says the funding will make the festival an even bigger part of people’s winter calendar.

“What it basically does is it provides a base of funding for the winter festival, just to help it keep going on,” he says.

Zimmer calls this well deserved for a festival that has grown bigger and bigger every year.

“It’s good to see that festivals are still going like this and for us it’s a relatively small investment for the bang it gives back to the community, it’s a really good thing for the community, and to give such a small investment to make that happen is rewarding for us,” he says.

This year, Enbridge is a huge, albeit
controversial sponsor of the festival, and when we asked Zimmer about how this will effect major sponsorships next year, he says that’s up to the organizers.

“For us, it’s foundational for them to keep going and they build from that and go out and get more sponsors and build off that,” he says. “It’s been successful over the years and we want to keep it successful.”

The festival lineup includes performers in various genres from across Canada, as well as artists from the community.

Next year, performances will take place in nine different venues across the city, including the Coast Inn, and the Playhouse.
