June 1st reopening date “somewhat realistic,” according to one Prince George restaurant owner

Eoin Foley, President of the Downtown Business Improvement Association and owner of two Prince George restaurants (Betulla Burning and Nancy O’s) says that he believes a June 1st reopening date is “somewhat realistic”.

“We’re going to be making plans over the next couple of weeks to see how we can operate at a lower capacity,” he added.

However, Foley anticipates that some customers may still stay away from their favourite dine-in spots:

“I think we’re still going to have to depend on our takeout and delivery business significantly.”

Foley said that reopening may not be the right choice for every business, as it may not always be cost-effective to take steps such as installing plexiglass if the restrictions are only short-term.

He concluded that each individual restaurant will have to carefully balance their needs and public safety when making the decision to reopen.
