Prince George’s Sea of Green

Over 4500 people have donned the green volunteer jacket for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Volunteer Workforce Manager Christine Nicholls says they originally had 8,000 people signed up.

“And we have about 4500 people deployed,” says Nicholls, “so it took a lot more in the system in order to get all the hours in, because we had an ask of 30 hours minimum commitment, we had a lot of people sign up for day time and evening availability, or weekend availability and we don’t need as many people like that we need people with daytime availability.”

Nicholls says so far they have had people showing up with great attitudes.

She says they have people doing everything from driving to sorting through garbage.

She says there is no end to the number of heart-warming stories of volunteers going the extra mile.
