BC Wildfire Service is reporting a 3-hectare fire currently burning off of Highway 97, just south of Hasler Flats near Chetwynd.
The Pine River Fire was reported today at 2:30 P.M. as a grass fire burning alongside the highway, although it has spread to nearby greenery and is now listed as “out of control”.
There are currently 6 people on-site with approximately 20 more on the way from the Fort St. John Unit Crew.
Requests for an air tanker and a bucketship have been issued, with both expected on-site soon.
RCMP are currently managing traffic control, although the Ministry of Transportation will be taking over the task shortly.
