Prince George RCMP are reporting significant results following last week’s announcement that they would be increasing their presence in the city’s downtown.
From May 15th to 25th, RCMP:
- Arrested a dozen people with active warrants
- Issued approximately 125 violation tickets, primarily for bicycle-related and open liquor offences
- Self-generated 40 Criminal Code or Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigations, ten of which resulted in reports to the Federal Prosecution Service of Canada or the BC Prosecution Service
- Found ten persons drunk in public and unable to care for themselves
RCMP say these actions have resulted in a noticeable reduction of open drug use, drug trafficking, and mischief related incidents.
Furthermore, RCMP are seeing a reduction of bicycle-related violations.
