Disruption in regular immunizations an unintended consequence of COVID-19

Parents of Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grade 9 students may want to be aware of the interruption to routine immunizations and catch-up opportunities for missed vaccines.

COVID-19 has caused the disruption and has also led to a pause in the plan to move forward with BC’s new Vaccination Status Reporting Regulation.

Parents of children in the affected grades who have not received or completed vaccinations will be contacted by Northern Health either this spring or in the next school year with information on how their children can receive missed vaccines.

Similarly, Northern Health plans to contact parents of children with incomplete immunization records in the next school year with a request for missing records.
