Teen involved in vehicle collision at First and Ospika ‘recovering well,’ says family

The 18-year-old man involved in a vehicle collision on May 31 is awake and recovering.

Sean Lode is dealing with a minor brain bleed, as well as a sprained ankle and fractured collarbone, according to family members.

“Basically it’s just day by day now,” said Sean’s sister, Mavra Lode.

“He’s pretty lucky for the most part!”

Mavra and her family are petitioning Prince George City Council to install a pedestrian controlled crossing light at First and Ospika, the site of the collision.

“It’s currently sitting at 3,662 and counting,” said Lode.

“My goal was to get it noticed, it wasn’t just about how many signatures we could get, it was more to get the word out there about this intersection. I’ve had people message me, I’ve seen the stories written underneath it, it seems like everyone who is signing it, and seeing it is saying ‘yes, it is dangerous.'”

The intersection is located in a densely populated residential area and Quinsen Elementary School is nearby.

Council is aware of the petition, and steps have been taken to move the request forward.

“I know everything takes time, I knew it wasn’t going to be an overnight thing, but at least now the ball is rolling, and it might be moved up,” Lode said.

You can find the petition on change.org.
