City of PG looking at upgrading trails with federal Gas Tax

Prince George city crews will be giving local trails some TLC with help from the federal Gas Tax Fund.

Crews will start work to pave and rehabilitate the UNBC Connector trail (between Ospika and Tyner Boulevard) starting tomorrow.

Crews will work to fix cracks and bumps, and provide a smoother surface on the UNBC Connector and at Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park starting tomorrow (June 23).

The work is scheduled to be completed within two weeks, depending on weather conditions.

Additionally, starting tomorrow, hikers can use a new refreshed, gravel trail to access Connaught Hill Park off Queensway.

Pedestrians (and those on two or four wheels) are asked to use alternate trail routes while the work is underway.

The federal Gas Tax Fund is provided annually to support local infrastructure priorities.

In 2020, Prince George is receiving nearly $1.7 million, which is supporting trails, sidewalks, renovations at Masich

Place, Two Rivers Gallery, and park washroom refurbishments.
