The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a wrench in a number of Prince George organizations, including the Northern Sport Centre.
Board members made a presentation to Council this evening, detailing repairs and presenting their budget for the year.
The facility remains closed, but the equipment has been rearranged to comply with provincial health regulations.
Membership revenues are predicted to increase, but the budget was approved pre-pandemic and will have to be looked at again, according to board members.
Numbers won’t be adjusted until there is a solid reopening date, however.
Meanwhile, Prince George Downtown Business Improvement Association also presented its budget of $ 574,020 which was subsequently approved.
PGDBIA presenters explained the association would have to move away from beautification of the area to safety and promotion because sponsorships and grants were affected due to the pandemic.
Spokesperson Colleen Van Mook added that consumer confidence is low, and this is impacting businesses in the area as well.
In addition, council meetings are now open to the public, but hearings are still permitted to go forward electronically, and the meetings remain live-streamed.
