Prince George Public Library’s Nechako Branch to reopen this week

Library users in the Hart will be able to return to the branch this week as the Prince George Public Library reopens the Nechako Branch.

Phase 3 of the Library’s reopening plan begins at the branch on Wednesday, July 22nd and will include limited browsing, limited access to computers and internet, and holds pickup
service.

Hours of operation at Nechako Branch will be: Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, and Friday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

“Patrons will notice some changes upon their return to Nechako Branch,” said spokesperson Amy Dhanjal.

“Seating has been removed and patrons are encouraged to keep their visits brief and to refrain from visiting if they are feeling sick. Access to children’s computers and the multi-purpose
room are unavailable for now. The number of computer stations has also been reduced to facilitate physical distancing,” she added.

In addition, library staff are prohibited from handling patrons’ devices or personal items when providing technical assistance

The date for reopening Bob Harkins Branch is not yet confirmed, but the library’s Leadership team is hoping the building can reopen before the end of the month.

The phases of increasing services are:
Phase 1 (in effect): Open return drops to permit borrowed materials to be returned to the library.
Phase 2 (in effect): Resume lending of physical library materials via curbside pickup.
Phase 3 (dates vary by branch): Limited access to branches, including browsing collections. The pickup service will move inside the branches. Limited computer and internet
access.
Phase 4 (unknown): Entire collection opens for browsing. Sitting areas will be unavailable.
Phase 5 (unknown): Resume in-person programs.
Phase 6 (unknown): Resume full access to library facilities, but physical distancing measures will remain in effect.
