Man’s injuries from truck incident in PG being looked at by Indepedent Investigations Office

The Independent Investigations Office has been notified about an incident in Prince George Thursday night that led to injuries for one man.

Officers received a report from an in-vehicle tracking company, that a truck stolen from Alberta was located in the Prince George area.

Police received another call that the licence plates related to the stolen vehicle had been driven into a lot in the 1400-block of Old Cariboo Highway.

From there, two women and one man, exited the truck and fled on foot.

The female suspects were located nearby while the man was taken into custody.

While two of the suspects were being transported to the detachment, the man was suffering from serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

Police are continuing the criminal investigation, which includes allegations of possession of a stolen vehicle, break and enter, driving while prohibited, possession of a controlled substance, and breach.

IIO is investigating whether the officer’s actions caused the man’s injuries.
