Prince George’s School District is asking motorists to be aware of how fast they are going.
This comes after parents in rural part of the district have noticed people speeding past stopped school buses.
Trustee Sharel Warrington says reports of drivers not stopping when the lights come on have also been an issue.
“This is an issue particularly in rural areas where there is narrow roads, where buses stop frequently, and drivers get impatient, and they pass, that’s not what good safety is about.”
Warrington says they are reminding the public safety is needed when it comes to buses.
At the end of January this school year, bus drivers have reported 68 incidents of drivers passing buses while stopped.
