In a nutshell:

NHL:

Three goals in less than six minutes gave the Vegas Golden Knights a hard-fought 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday in Edmonton.

Vegas now leads the best-of-seven Western Conference Semi-Final series 3-1 with game five set for Tuesday.

Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone had three points each for Vegas while Shea Theodore chipped in with a pair of helpers.

Tyler Toffoli, Bo Horvat and Elias Pettersson lit the lamp in defeat for the Canucks.

JT Miller also recorded a three-assist effort for Vancouver.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Stars won another wild one against the Colorado Avalanche scraping out a 5-4 result.

Radek Faksa led the way with a goal and two assists for the Stars who lead the series 3-1.

Game 5 is tonight at 6:45 Pacific Time in Edmonton.

In the East, the New York Islanders are one win away from the Conference Finals following a 3-2 result over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Josh Bailey (two assists) and Brock Nelson (two goals) led the way for the Isles while Ivan Provorov and Sean Couturier responded for the Flyers.

Thomas Griess won the battle of the backups making 36 saves.

After a subpar outing on Saturday, Brian Elliott started instead of Carter Hart who allowed three goals on 33 New York shots.

Game five is set for Tuesday.

NBA:

After falling behind 39-23 at the end of the first quarter, the Toronto Raptors were unable to catch the Boston Celtics dropping game one of the East Semifinals 112-94.

Marcus Smart and Jason Tatum both scored 21 for the Celtics.

Kyle Lowry led the Raptors in points with 17.

Game Two goes Tuesday in Orlando.

In the West, Kawhi Leonard put on a clinic scoring 33 points leading the LA Clippers to the second round after a 111-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Luka Doncic hooped 38 points in defeat for Dallas.

Canadian Jamal Murray forced a Game 7 for the Denver Nuggets thanks to his 50-point effort in a 119-107 victory over the Utah Jazz.

In a losing cause, Donovan Mitchell scored 44 for the Jazz.

Game 7 goes Tuesday.

Today’s action has the Houston Rockets putting against the Oklahoma City Thunders (Rockets lead series 3-2).

The winner of that series will face the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers.

Elsewhere, the Milwaukee Bucks will kick off the second round against Kamloops native Kelly Olynyk and the Miami Heat.

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays escaped with a 6-5 win in Buffalo against the Baltimore Orioles.

Teoscar Hernandez had two RBI’s for the Jays who improved to 18-14 this season.

Both teams play again today at 11:07 AM Pacific Time.
