HARTLEY’S SPORT SHORTS: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

NHL:

–The Vegas Golden Knights will play the Dallas Stars in the NHL Western Conference Final. Shea Theodore scored with 6:08 left in the third and the Golden Knights added two empty net goals for a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks in the 7th and deciding game. Thatcher Demko stopped 33 of 34 shots in the loss while Robin Lehner made 14 saves for his third shutout of the series.

–The Stars rallied from a one goal deficit twice in the third period to nip the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 in overtime. Rookie Joel Kiviranta completed a hat trick in Game 7 by scoring 7:24 into OT.

–In the NHL tonight (Saturday 4:30 PT): the Philadelphia Flyers battle the NY Islanders in their Game 7 with the winner to meet the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Final.

NBA:

–The Toronto Raptors are back on the court today (3:30 PM PT) against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics lead the NBA Eastern Conference semifinal 2-1.

–The late game tonight (6:00 PT) in the NBA has the LA Clippers, up 1-0, taking on the Denver Nuggets.

–On Friday, Houston upset the LA Lakers 112-97 in the opener while Miami beat Milwaukee 115-100 to give the Heat a 3-0 series lead.

MLB:

–The Toronto Blue Jays split a Friday doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox with each team winning by a run. The Jays took the opener 8-7 and the Red Sox came back with a 3-2 victory. They play again tonight (4:30 PT) in Boston.
