HARTLEY’S SPORT SHORTS: Tuesday, September 8th

In a nutshell:

NHL:

Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point had five points each for the Tampa Bay Lightning in an 8-2 drubbing over the New York Islanders in Edmonton.

The Bolts lead the Eastern Conference Final 1-0 with game two set for Wednesday.

In the West, the Dallas Stars face off against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2.

The Stars claimed Game 1 on Sunday by a 1-0 score.

NBA:

The Toronto Raptors are on the brink of elimination after falling 111-89 to the Boston Celtics during Game 5 of the Eastern Semis on Monday.

Jaylen Brown led Boston with 27 points while Fred VanVleet recorded 18 points in defeat for the Raps.
Game Six is on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Denver Nuggets 113-107 to take 2-1 lead in the Western Semis.

Paul George (Clippers) and Nikola Jokic (Denver) both had 32 point efforts.

Today, the Houston Rockets take on the LA Lakers (Series tied at 1) and the Miami Heat face off against the Milwaukee Bucks in the East (Heat lead series 3-1).

MLB:

A ten-run sixth inning paced the Toronto Blue Jays to a 12-7 win over the New York Yankees in Buffalo.

Travis Shaw, Rowdy Tellez and Vlady Guerrero Jr. each had two RBI’s each for the 23-18 Jays.

Both teams play again tonight at 3:37 Pacific Time.
