HARTLEY’S SPORT SHORTS: Tuesday, September 15th

In a nutshell: as of 12:05 a.m. (All times PT) Tuesday by Hartley Miller

NHL:

–The Dallas Stars are headed to the Stanley Cup final for the first time in 20 years. The Stars erased a 2-0 third period deficit to beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime to capture the Western Conference final 4-1. Denis Gurianov tallied the winner on a power play at 3:36 of OT.

–Tonight in the NHL (just after 5:00 PT) the Tampa Bay Lightning battle the New York Islanders. Tampa enjoys a 3-1 lead in the East final.

NBA:

–The LA Lakers will find out their opponent tonight in the NBA Western final. The LA Clippers and Denver Nuggets meet in Game 7 (just after 6:00 PT).

–The NBA Eastern final begins today (3:40) with the Boston Celtics against the Miami Heat.

NFL:

–The first week of the NFL season concluded with road teams winning the two Monday night games. The Tennessee Titans scored a late field goal for a 16-14 victory over the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers knocked off the New York Giants 26-16.

MLB:

–Two teams battling for second in the AL East meet tonight (4:05) as the Toronto Blue Jays visit the New York Yankees. With only 14 games left, the (26-20) Jays are just 1/2 a game ahead of the (26-21) Yanks. Toronto is 3 1/2 back of division-leading Tampa Bay.

Chamber of Commerce names Business Excellence Awards winners

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce handed out its 40th Annual Business Excellence Awards last night. (Saturday)Kydra Farrell, owner-operator of Worth A Shot Mobile Bar and Champagne Events was named the 2025 Business Person of the Year. 

City Council to discuss potential purchasing bylaw amendments

Prince George City Council will consider a notice of motion in regards to the disposal of assets at tomorrow's (Monday) meeting. The notice of motion was put forward by Councillors Cori Ramsay and Brian Skakun, and recommends that Council refers the City's purchasing bylaw to bring back options to better articulate section 5.3 of the bylaw.
