The YMCA of Northern B-C has a few extra dollars for its Active Kids program.
The Y has received $50,000 from the government and CEO Amanda Alexander says these dollars go towards all their financial accessibility.
“So what that means is that any children and youth who aren’t able to afford their memberships,” says Alexander, “roughly 20-30% of our memberships are subsidized.”
Alexander says this provides children and youth the chance to be active.
She says this will also help children who couldn’t afford Y day camps otherwise.
Those interested in taking advantage of the Y’s programs can head to their website.
