Laura Parent announces Prince George/Valemont campaign

Prince George local and UNBC Senator, Laura Parent has announced her decision to run for MLA for Prince George/Valemont constituency on behalf of the NDP.

Parent claims her roots in the city and focus on health care will lead her to victory against long time Liberal MLA, Shirley Bond.

“People in our riding realize that our current MLA is not a member of the government and is really limited in her power to do things,” noted Parent.

Her platform will run on the basis of helping those that she describes as the most ‘vulnerable’ population.

“My biggest issue is health care and health care accessibility in Northern BC,” explained Parent,” that looks like improving our wait times for services and improving our senior’s care and long term care.”

Her strategy in campaigning during the pandemic includes holding events outside finding new ways to connect with people and voters.

In addition, she addressed her concern for the Liberal party’s decision to eliminate the PST, she claims “I think that people are going to suffer.”
