358 new cases of Covid-19 since Friday, four in Northern Health

Northern Health has reported an additional four new cases of Covid-19, for a regional total of 322.

BC-wide, an additional 358 cases were found, totaling 9,739.

“Today, we are announcing three 24-hour reporting periods. In the first reporting period from Oct. 2 to 3, we had 130 new cases, from Oct. 3 to 4, we had 108 new cases and in the last 24 hours, we have had a further 120 new cases,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Of the total cases, 1,353 are considered active, with 66 people are in hospital and 16 in intensive care.

Four people have died from the virus over the weekend; 242 people have passed away in BC.

Dr. Henry says health officials conducted 33,409 tests over the weekend, for a positivity rate of 1.6%.

The recovery rate remains at 83.6 per cent.

“There have been three new health-care facility outbreaks: one at Langley Lodge, one at White Rock Seniors Village and one at Chartwell Crescent Gardens. The outbreak at Holy Family Hospital has been declared over,” said Dr. Henry.

In total, 16 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and three acute-care facilities have active outbreaks.

There has also been one new community outbreak at the MSJ Valhalla Distribution Centre in the Fraser Health region.
