NHL:

–The Vancouver Canucks have a new starting goalie. On the first day of NHL free agency, the Canucks signed former Washington Capital Braden Holtby to a two-year deal worth $8.6 million.

–Former Canuck Jacob Markstrom signed a six-year contract for a total of $36 million with the Calgary Flames.

–The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to a seven-year, $38.5 million contract extension with forward Josh Anderson. The Habs acquired the 26-year-old Anderson from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday in a trade for forward Max Domi and a third-round draft pick. Both players were upcoming restricted free agents. Columbus signed Domi to a $10.6 million, two-year deal on Wednesday.

–The Braves and Dodgers will meet in the best-of-7 National League Championship Series beginning Monday.

NFL: (Start of week 5)

(Bears are 4-1 while the Bucs sit at 3-2)

–The NFL has moved a couple of games that were scheduled for Sunday. The Denver at New England game is now slated for Monday at 2 PM (PT) while the Buffalo at Tennessee game has switched to Tuesday (4 PM PT).

NBA:

–The LA Lakers go after their 17th NBA title tonight. LA, up 3-1 in the Finals, will battle the Miami Heat in Orlando with tip-off just after 6:00 (PT). The Lakers are 7-point favourites to win the game.
