BCHL:

–The Prince George Spruce Kings won their BCHL pre-season opener outscoring the Centennials 4-1 in Merritt.  The Spruce Kings outshot the Centennials 32-28. PG went 1/8 and Merritt 0/8 on the power play. The same two teams meet again in exhibition play Friday, Oct. 23rd in Merritt and on Sunday, Oct. 25th in Prince George (3PM at the RMCA).

NHL:

–The Calgary Flames have signed a couple of former Vancouver Canucks. The Flames came to terms with defenceman Chris Tanev on a four-year, $18 million contract. Calgary also signed free-agent goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a six-year, $36-million deal. To replace Markstrom, the Canucks and former Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby agreed to a two-year, $8.6-million contract. Friday and Saturday were the first two days of NHL free agency.

NBA:

–The NBA Finals will conclude either tonight (Sunday) or Tuesday in Orlando. The LA Lakers and Miami Heat meet in Game 6 this evening (4:30 PT) with the Lakers ahead 3-2. Miami is coming off a 111-108 victory in Game 5 on Friday. The Lakers are going for their 17th NBA title.

MLB: 

–The best-of-7 American League Championship Series will open tonight (4:35 PT) in San Diego with the Tampa Bay Rays against the Houston Astros. In the National League, the Championship Series between the Atlanta Braves and the LA Dodgers will start Monday night at 5:08 (PT).

NFL: (Week 5)

–There are 10 Sunday NFL games including (1-3) Minnesota at (4-0) Seattle tonight at 5:20. The Denver at New England game has been moved to next Sunday (Oct 18th).
