More than 420 kilograms of trash has been cleaned from a regular dump site this weekend according to the Spruce City Wildlife Association.
The BackCountry Cleanup initiative was founded about five years ago, designed to remove trash from trails and backcountry areas in the Prince George region.
“A few of us cleaned a regular dump site next to Heather Park Elementary,” said organizer Steve Hamilton in a release.
“Shortly after, I was contacted by Cassandra Premack of K.K.S Tactical Supplies in Prince George, She stated to me that they wanted to do anything they could to help combat this problem, and immediately offered a trail camera towards this at no charge,” he added.
Over 50,000 pounds of garbage, five vehicles, and ‘countless’ appliances and recyclables have also been cleared since the initiative began.
