It’s not often you see an ambulance and a bulldozer stolen on the same night, but that’s what happened in the Cariboo region.
According to RCMP, two men from Williams Lake were arrested in Quesnel after they were found in a stolen vehicle and in possession of multiple firearms.
Mounties say the men stole several vehicles that did include an ambulance and a bulldozer.
The men were apprehended early yesterday morning (Tuesday) after police responded to a report of heavy equipment stolen from a logging site east of Quesnel.
A search resulted in the seizure of four long barrel firearms that had been previously stolen from the Williams Lake area.
The investigation revealed the men had driven to a nearby mine site in a Dodge truck that was also stolen from Williams Lake.
When the truck became stuck, the men tried to pull the vehicle out with a bulldozer they stole from a logging camp.
When that failed, they lit the truck on fire.
The men then stole a worksite ambulance but were arrested before they could leave the area.
Later in the morning, a worker reported two other suspicious males nearby.
The police located the two men and learned they were also from the Williams Lake area.
Property crime offenders and prolific offenders have no boundaries. They commonly travel through several jurisdictions to commit crime. This case is a prime example of suspects that were in possession of a stolen vehicle and firearms from one jurisdiction and used them to commit crimes in another,
 said Sgt. Richard Weseen of the Quesnel Detachment.
A big shout out has to go to the workers in the area that reported suspicious activity, as it was timely and assisted in the investigation.
The investigation into their involvement is still ongoing.
