NFL

Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the Buffalo Bills outlasted the Seattle Seahawks 44-34 on Sunday.

The Bills remain atop the AFC East with a 7-2 record while the Seahawks drop to 6-2 but remain a game up on both the Arizona Cardinals (5-3) and LA Rams (5-3) for the NFC West division crown.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints (6-2) made short work of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3) in the Sunday nighter, coasting to a 38-3 thrashing.

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady threw for 209 yards and three interceptions.

The Monday night game features a pair of struggling teams as the New England Patriots (2-5) take on the New York Jets (0-8).

Joe Flacco is expected to start at quarterback for the Jets in place of the injured Sam Darnold.

BCHL

Austin Spiridakis picked a good time for his debut with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

He scored a goal and an assist during a 5-1 win over the Merritt Centennials in BCHL exhibition action on Saturday from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

The Spruce Kings head to the Kootenays for a three-game road trip against the Cranbrook Bucks (Friday and Saturday) and Trail Smoke Eaters (Sunday).

Connor Bowie and Aiden Reeves of the PG Cougars are currently with the Spruce Kings.

PG is 3-1 so far during the preseason.

Hockey

Canadian hockey icon and color commentator Howie Meeker passed away at the age of 97 on Sunday.

He was most famous for his “Howie Meeker Hockey School” sessions while working at CBC.

As a player, Meeker captured four Stanley Cups in eight season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Trebek

Canadian and longtime Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday.

He was 80 years old.

While he is most synonymous with his role on Jeopardy, Trebek gained even more popularity from hockey fans across the country after announcing the Ottawa Senators first pick (3rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, which turned out to be Tim Stutzle.

Trebek also graduated from the University of Ottawa.
