Curl BC eliminates qualification events, postpones some provincials

In response to the challenges of Covid-19, Curl BC has decided to make a number of changes to the competitions calendar.

Curl BC will be postponing the U15, U18, U21 and Wheelchair curling events until the spring of 2021 and pivoting to open championships in these categories.

The national championships in these categories have already been cancelled by Curling Canada.

The AMJ Campbell BC Mixed event, Connect Hearing Masters event, BC Club Championship, and Connect Hearing Senior Curling Championships have all been postponed to fall 2021.

These events will now be open provincials leading to the 2021 Curling Canada national championships in Fall 2021.

In consultation with Curl BC’s Stick Curling Committee, the 2021 BC Open and Women’s Stick Curling Championships have also been cancelled.

The BC Mixed Doubles, BC Men’s and Scotties BC Women’s Championship will now be run as open provincial events, meaning that there will be no qualification through playdowns.

If due to Covid-19 restrictions, the 2021 BC Mixed Doubles, Men’s and Women’s events are not able to run, Curl BC will send the 2020 BC Champions to the 2021 nationals.
