Stay safe, PG! RCMP lists a number of ways to keep businesses safe this holiday season

The BC RCMP have released a number of recommendations to keep businesses and communities safe as we enter the Holiday season.

This comes as November also happens to be National Community Safety and Crime Prevention Month

“The biggest thing for businesses to have is proper surveillance cameras, that generally helps most investigations that we’re involved in,” explained PG RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass.

He also recommended keeping anything valuable behind counters to minimize the chances of them being stolen and maintaining appropriate staff training programs.

With Christmas around the corner, WorkplaceBC recommends using a number of theft prevention measures including mirrors, communication devices for employees to summon help in an
emergency and door alarms.

In addition, the BC RCMP advises keeping a minimal amount of cash in registers at all times.

They also advise staff to avoid counting cash in front of customers when clearing a register and placing registers out of customer reach whenever possible.
