Prince George RCMP welcomed the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) for the third time in three months.
“This is in relation to the number of shootings we had early in the fall,” explained PG RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass,” throughout ten days we had a number of shootings in the fall.”
From Thursday (Nov 26th) through Saturday (Nov 28th), UGET helped target drug trafficking groups that have been responsible for the increased violence in the city over the past few months.
UGET officers conducted checks of 85 people known to be involved in criminal activity where they seized large amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, over $10,000 in cash
Additionally, they confiscated a firearm, hatchet, baton, multiple knives and two replica firearms with ammunition.
“As a provincial police force, part of their (UGET) area is Northern BC and they’re often invited up but they can also make a request to come up as well,” added Douglass.
Additionally, officers checked 60 vehicles throughout the city over the weekend.
