Hockey:

–Canada beat Slovakia 3-1 Sunday to improve to 2-0 in the preliminary round at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton. The Canadian team easily won its opener 16-2 on Saturday over Germany. Taylor Gauthier of the PG Cougars is the third goalie for Canada. He did not dress for either of the first two games. Canada will play (0-2) Switzerland Tuesday (3:00 PM PT).

–Forward Filip Koffer of the Prince George Cougars scored the game-winning goal for the Czech Republic in a
2-0 victory over Russia at the World Junior Tournament. The Czechs are 1-1 with its next game on Tuesday (11 AM PT) against the USA.

NFL: (1 of 12 Sunday games)

–The (11-4) Seahawks clinch top spot in the NFC West.
