A skiff of snow to kick off first full work week of 2021 in PG

It won’t feel like a winter wonderland, but Old Man Winter is bringing some snow to Prince George.

Up to five centimetres is expected for the northern capital today (Monday) as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Alyssa Charbonneau told MyPGNow.com the above-seasonal trend will last another week.

“It has been a little bit warmer than normal, temperatures for this time of year are around minus six and lows of around minus fourteen. As we look towards Tuesday and the rest of the week, we are going to see daytime highs above freezing.”

Daytime highs are anticipated to dip to minus four degrees by the weekend.

As for that La Nina winter we were expecting in PG, Charbonneau added that it might take a little longer to develop.

“The projection for a colder-than-normal winter was based on the fact we were looking at a La Nina winter. Often, those sorts of effects are felt more towards once you get into the later parts of winter rather than through the fall.”
