Spruce Kings add goaltender, forward to the roster for upcoming season

The Prince George Spruce Kings have made a pair of acquisitions today (Wednesday).

2002-born Goaltender Kobe Grant will be suiting up in the red, white and blue for the upcoming season.

Grant was previously with the Kelowna Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL).

In the 2019-20 season, Grant played 21 games with the Thompson Blazers of the BC Major Midget League, where he sported a 10-10 record, along with 3.19 goals against average.

Grant also affiliated and played in one game with the Vernon Vipers last season.

The 6-foot goaltender hails from Vernon, BC.

“I wanted to get back to carrying three goaltenders due to a lack of access to affiliate players this season and in anticipation of us being able to play games in the near future,” said Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

Meanwhile, forward Darwin Lakoduk will join his NCAA school at American International College (AIC) for the remainder of the season.

The team has added forward Linden Makow in to the mix in his stead.

Lakoduk, 20, was acquired by the Spruce Kings this past summer in a deal with the Penticton Vees.

Lakoduk finished the 2019-20 BCHL campaign with 11 goals and 12 assists in 58 games played combined with the Vees and the Victoria Grizzlies.
