Two arrested following seizure of firearms and drugs from Ramada hotel room

The Prince George RCMP received information that guests of the Ramada Plaza Hotel downtown were violating the province’s current provincial health orders on Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, they searched the room for occupants and found a prohibited gun magazine in plain sight.

Police immediately arrested two occupants in the room for Possession of a Prohibited device and searched the room for more prohibited items.

The search yielded large amounts of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and numerous prescription pills. Police also found multiple firearms hidden throughout the room, states Prince George RCMP Spokesperson, Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

They located various stolen items such as laptops, industrial tools and other electronic devices.

Both individuals were released pending further investigation and the result of analysis of the seized firearms.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Surprise visit brings big smiles to boy battling cancer in Quesnel

A young man battling eye cancer received a surprise visit over the Canada Day long weekend by a car club and motorcycle club in Quesnel. Over 50 vehicles from the Prospector’s Car Club and the Dangerous Curves Motorbike Club drove by and filled the dead-end roads near Kellen Harper-Frederiko’s house, with well wishes, toys to give to Kellen, and chances for him to sit in and on cars and bikes.

Some Northern Interior Health Unit services moving next year

Northern Health's Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU) will be making a move in spring 2026.  According to Northern Health, the current NIHU building will be deconstructed after the move to make space for the tower.
