(Brock Boeser opened and closed the scoring for the (6-5) Canucks, who won their fourth in a row. Vancouver will continue a 6-game road trip Monday in Montreal (4 PM PT).

Brett Connolly of PG was a healthy scratch for the Florida Panthers, who won 3-2 in overtime at Detroit. Connolly played in his 500th NHL game on Thursday. He has no points in four games this season.

In a major NFL trade, the Detroit Lions are sending quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in return for quarterback Jared Goff, two first-round picks and a third-round pick. The deal includes the Rams’ first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, along with their third-round pick this year.

(Super Bowl)

The Kansas City Chiefs are 3-point favourites to win the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 55. The Chiefs will play the Bucs in Tampa on Sunday, Feb 8th.  The pandemic has caused the Super Bowl’s football-fan attendance to be limited to 24,700, with 7,500 of those seats reserved for vaccinated health-care workers. The cheapest ticket to the big game costs $8,550.


NBA:

The (7-12) Raptors host the (8-12) Orlando Magic today (4:00 PT) in Tampa Bay.
