A proposed silver-gold mine near Vanderhoof is moving into the environmental assessment stage.
New Gold’s Blackwater Project will be undertaking regional exploration and permitting to get it up and running.
Community Manager Claudette Gouger says people will have a chance this year to get a better sense of the project as it works to get environmentally certified.
“And that’s where people can come out and there will be a number of stations that people can view visuals, ask questions of experts in the field,” says Gouger, “associated with those certain visuals or valued components around health, education or environment, those kinds of things.”
Gouger says they will also be able to ask questions about the project.
She says they are looking to start construction in 2017 with it being operational in 2019.
