RCMP to re-visit missing persons cases

The probe of the RCMP missing aboriginal women investigations has not yet begun and may not ever, yet movement is occurring.

The RCMP’s handling of missing and murdered aboriginal cases has spurred debate amongst human rights groups and produced many complaints which has spurred the probe action.

However, Chief Terry Teegee with the Carrier Sekhani Tribal Council says interestingly enough, now that funding has been cut and e-pana reduced, it appears some cases will now be re-visited by the RCMP.

He says missing women should not be the only ones looked into:

“We have to also remember that there is the Jack Family that is still missing and that’s been the case since 1989. So I think the more attention we bring to these issues hopefully this cases will be solved”

He also mentioned a large number of missing men as well, and believes more information will become available as the re-visiting continues.
