Popular PG radio personality loses battle with cancer

There is a huge void on the radio scene in Prince George following the passing of a well-respected Prince George broadcaster/morning host.

Mike Benny was 58.

Benny began with 550 CKPG Radio in the mid-1980s and shortly after became the morning voice at 101.3 Hits FM (now known as the River).

One of the features of his show was the “joke of the day.”

He was able to get those jokes published in a book titled ‘World’s Punniest Joke Book.’

Benny was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019.

He leaves behind a wife and four children.

Our condolences from Vista radio to the Benny family and to his many co-workers and friends at CKPG.
