For the birds! Pacific Western Brewing makes large grain donation to Ducks Unlimited volunteers

Local Ducks Unlimited Chapter members, Brock Bailey and Paul Cailleaux recently received some help from the Pacific Western Brewing (PWB) Company in feeding the ducks at Cottonwood Island Park.

PWB Brewmaster, Kelly Olson is now storing nearly 3000 lbs of grain that the duo can access and use to feed the ducks, something they’ve been doing every winter for the past 5 years.

“We will be storing the grain with our regular stock and taking what they need from it on an ongoing basis until natural food sources start to return for the ducks again,” explained Olson.

Every year, the pair have had to either pay for the feed out of their own pockets or rely on community donations.

While the donation doesn’t cover 100% of the need to feed the ducks,  it will ensure they have a regular supply of feed for the birds.

“As you know, we can have harsh winters here in Prince George, and one of the greatest difficulties for the ducks that over winter is the unpredictability of when the winter will begin or end, and then, of course, trying to source food when supply is naturally short,” said Bailey.

Bailey and Cailleaux are now accepting donations made available or left at Spruce Capital Feeds.
