Donna Flood, Executive Director of the Prince George Hospice Society announced the Boogie with the Stars event will return to Prince George on December 31st, 2021.

The event, which raises money for various charities across PG, was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

“We are excited and optimistic that we will be again able to gather by New Year’s Eve, and look forward to hosting the event,” said Flood.

The four participating charities will each have dancers raise funding throughout the year and then present a dance at the Civic Centre on New Year’s Eve if social distancing protocols allow the event to happen.

Big Brothers Big Sisters will be represented on the stage by Chelsey and Andrew McDermout, the Humane Society will be supported by Angela McLaren, Humane Society Director, and Julia Dillabough.

The PG Symphony Orchestra will also be participating but has yet to announce its participants.

“Dancers will be asking the community to support their fundraising initiatives”, added Flood, “100% of the money raised by the dance team goes to their specific charity.”

This year, there will be three prizes for best overall dance, most money raised and fan favourite, the dancers will be judged by Judy Russell, owner of ‘Judy Russel’s Enchainement Dance Centre’.

It will be the event’s 10th year in Prince George, which was started by Peter Weedon and Paz Milbourn and has been hosted in partnership with Hospice for 3 years.

Anyone looking to participate as a dancer or donor to the event can visit the Boogie with the Stars Facebook page.
