WHL:

Don Nachbaur of Prince George has been hired by the Tri-City Americans as the team’s new associate coach. He will work under head coach Kelly Buchberger who is in his third season with the team. The 62-year-old Nachbaur returns to Tri-City after spending six seasons with the Americans as head coach between 2003 and 2009. Nachbaur is the WHL’s third-winningest regular-season head coach.

 

NHL: (North Division)

(The Canucks poured it on against their former goalie Jacob Markstrom, who was given the hook early in the 3rd period after allowing 5 goals on 29 shots. Vancouver broke open a 2-1 game by scoring twice in a 37-second span late in the 2nd. Brock Boeser notched a goal and two assists while Braden Holtby made 35 saves. The (8-11-1) Canucks host Winnipeg Friday and Sunday at 7 PM)

Serena Williams is out at the Australian Open. The 39-year-old Williams lost her semifinal match 6-3, 6-4 to Naomi Osaka.

NBA:

The Toronto Raptors visit the Milwaukee Bucks this evening for their second meeting in three nights. The Raptors beat the Bucks 124-113 on Tuesday. The (13-15) Raptors are tied for 7th in the Eastern Conference. The (16-12) Bucks are 3rd. Toronto will also play Friday in Minnesota to conclude a 3-game road trip.
