Prince George showcased in new Christmas Film

The filming of a new Christmas movie has begun in Prince George and a number of community landmarks will be highlighted on the screen.

‘A Great North Christmas’ is being filmed at over a dozen locations in PG, including Otway Nordic Centre and Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

“Along with our cast, Prince George is definitely a star of this film,” says Director James Douglas, “the entire production is being filmed around Prince George and the immediate area, and locals will recognize a number of PG landmarks in the film. ”

Additionally, Cottonwood Island Park and a number of local businesses downtown will be settings in the film.

“The best representation of Prince George is through the people involved with this production,” he added, “Prince George is on screen but it’s also in the DNA of this production.”

More than 100 locals are part of the film’s crew, cast, volunteers and suppliers.

Mayor Lyn Hall expressed excitement about how well represented Prince George will be on camera.

“The viewers will actually know that the beautiful place they’re seeing is Prince George,” said Hall, “this production will enhance future opportunities in the film industry for our City.”

The film is about a woman from Los Angeles visiting Canada to escape her busy lifestyle, where she gets to enjoy winter activities for the first time and experience the community of Prince George.

A Great North Christmas is produced by Norm Coyne of Barker Street Cinemas.

One of Coyne’s previous works from 2017 titled, “A Doctor’s Case,” also featured scenes set in the Northern Capital.

Filming for “A Great North Christmas” is expected to continue until mid-March, residents are being asked to not gather at film locations in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions.
